The Challenge

"Environment B·O·P" is the name for The Bay of Plenty Regional Council. Established in 1989 to manage the environmental resources - land, air, water and sea - of the region for existing and future generations.” The primary requirement was to find a solution that could easily manage a large number of content areas quickly and efficiently, while requiring a minimum number of resources.

Additional requirements were:

• A system that was easy-to-use and required only a limited number of resources to manage
• Flexibility to integrate mission critical web applications currently in use
• A multi-site solution that would support multiple web offerings
• A solution that could be implemented in a short period of time
• A solution that effectively managed a large number of government documents in PDF format

The Solution

After conducting an extensive search of content management solutions, Environment B·O·P selected Lumeon's Prominence because of its dynamic navigation module. The capabilities provided by the XML based navigation system enabled us to transform existing static navigation code into powerful, dynamic functionality eliminating the need to redesign one of the basic elements of their site prior to implementation and that immediately added new functionality to the Web site immediately.

Within six weeks the site was converted to Prominence, staff training was completed, and the site was ready for launch with the new functionality.
