Last week was Demo Day, the culmination of many months’ hard work, and a unique chance for the Lumeon team to showcase care pathways developed during the Cedars-Sinai Accelerator Powered by Techstars.

Our experts have been working closely with the senior team at Cedars-Sinai, to create pathways that ensure patients are ready for surgery through the digital orchestration and automation of care teams, clinical and administrative tasks and patient communication.

In front of a five hundred strong crowd of leading healthcare providers, investors and journalists, Robbie Hughes, CEO of Lumeon took to the stage to describe how our Care Pathway Management (CPM) platform is reversing healthcare fragmentation and rising operational costs across the UK and Europe.

As a sophisticated ‘care traffic control’ platform for healthcare, Lumeon enables providers to design and deploy pathways that direct activities both before, during and after patients arrive at hospital, using intelligent automation to reduce manual workload.

Robbie Hughes, Lumeon CEO, presents the Lumeon Care Pathway Management platform at Demo Day.

The platform provides real-time visibility of each individual’s plan of care and can make dynamic adjustments to their pathway based on risk status, socio-demographic profile or compliance to activities such as completing screening forms or confirming attendance at appointments. It integrates with existing data sources, can be used from within the EHR, enabling providers to orchestrate people, process, technology and communication in real-time.

Within the accelerator program, the first application of the CPM platform at Cedars-Sinai is to reduce cancellations and delays to the pre-surgical pathway, with subsequent expansion to discharge and post-acute processes. Lumeon ensures each patient is optimally assessed and prepared without over or under-utilizing resource, maximizing OR utilization and improving the patient and referrer experience.

Delegates attending the Demo Day had the opportunity to preview this highly configurable pre-surgical pathway, which includes capabilities such as algorithmically calculated pre-op test lists, timers, virtualized patient coaching and risk stratification. They also had a chance to talk to our pathway experts about their own operational challenges and learn more about the broad spectrum of Lumeon solution areas.

“We are excited to be able to showcase our pre-surgical capabilities, which will help solve an issue that costs the US healthcare market billions of dollars each year,” said Lumeon CEO, Robbie Hughes. “The accelerator has been a fantastic opportunity for us to develop close working relationships with industry-recognized leaders at Cedars-Sinai. I’m impressed by the quality of attendees here at Demo Day and we’re delighted at the interest our platform is sparking with investors and health systems.”

Bruce Gewertz, MD, Surgeon-in-Chief and Vice President for Interventional Services at Cedars-Sinai discusses how Lumeon is helping optimize surgical processes as part of the accelerator.
